People are always asking us what things we need in order to do our work. Here is a list of what we need. Please contact me if you are going to donate any of these items so that we can keep track of how much we have or are getting!
We need two pairs of panties (full briefs please) per sanitary kit that we take. Days for Girls recommends sizes girls 14/16 or women’s 5/6. Our goal is to distribute 2000 kits in 2017 which equals 4000 pairs of panties!
2. Ziploc bags
In each kit there are 2 large Ziploc freezer bags – one to wash the pads and one to store the soiled pads until they are washed. The best place for these is Costco. Again, 2000 kits equals 4000 ziploc bags!
As an additional treat in the kits, we like to add a nail file (the thick cardboard type.) The girls are always excited to get that extra little treat.
4. Duffle Bags
These bags are the easiest to use to travel when we are in Uganda. We can stuff them full, they are light, and they can be folded inside one another to be brought back to use again. We can get about 50 kits inside one bag and each one of us can travel with 1 extra bag so 50 kits each!
5. Fabric for the kits
Flannel, cotton, ribbon, drawstring, PUL
