We are well on our way toward our goal of 2000 sanitary kits for the 2017 trip but we still need help! In order to provide kits for 2000 girls and teach them about their reproductive health and safety, we need…
16,000 flannel liners – We need donations of flannel and of time to serge the edges! Sewing bees happen frequently if you’d like to be involved.
4,000 cotton shields – We need donations of good quality cotton and time as well to cut pieces, sew the pieces together, and snap the “wings”! Sewing bees happen frequently if you’d like to be involved or training is available to make the shields at home. Complete kits are available that just require sewing the pieces together once you have had the training.
2,000 drawstring bags – These are made in Uganda by a local tailor and purchased from her.
4,000 large Ziploc freezer bags – Often on sale at COSTCO if you have a membership and would be interested in buying a box or two (they are SO expensive in Uganda – about $25 for 12 and made in the United Arab Emirates.)
2,000 nail files – The girls LOVE getting the large cardboard ones that you can usually find at the Dollar Sore.
4,000 pairs of underwear – We buy these at the local market in Uganda for about $9.00 for 12 pairs
2,000 bars of soap – We buy this in Uganda as well as it is heavy to carry and inexpensive there.
Your cash donations help purchase the items listed above for the kits. You can donate using the Paypal button to the right or by sending a cheque to the address down on the right.
Contact me if you’d like to help us reach our goal of 2000 kits! That will almost double the number of girls we’ve reached since 2012. What an incredible impact! erika(at)iseesolutions(dot)org
