On behalf of ISEE, great thanks to all the wonderful women who came out to help make our second annual March Sewing Bee a resounding success.
After almost 90 labour hours, the grand tally is:
- 220 shields snapped (and over 200 more ready to be snapped);
- 100 shields ready for sewing;
- 100 PUL shield pieces cut out (and over 400 more ready to be cut);
- 28 flannel liners completed (and 40 more almost finished).
A special thank you to all the women who shared their stories and wisdom for the benefit of our mini-documentary. I’m editing it now and I hope to have it up in the next week or so.
Apologies to those who were hoping for pictures of the event; I was so busy shooting video that I failed to get even one ordinary shot of all the women working! Ooops!
Also announced at the Bee: Kelowna Sunrise Rotary is generously hosting a fundraiser for ISEE Solutions. Called “When Women Empower Women, Incredible Things Happen”, it will be held at the lovely Laurel Packing House, 1304 Ellis St. Kelowna, on April 14th, 2016 from 5:00-7:30 pm.
Admission includes gourmet appetizers, wine, and a signature cocktail. There are also door prizes and a grand prize of $500. Only 100 tickets are available so you have a 1 in 100 chance of winning!
Tickets are $100 each and are available from Erika – email for details. Due to the nature of the event the tickets are not eligible for a tax receipt but the entire cost of the ticket will go directly to ISEE. It’s a great way to make a donation and also enjoy a night out at the same time. For more information, contact Erika.
